NAMI Day
Success!
NAMI Tri-Cities and
Yakima members, who traveled over the mountains and were part of
this special day to help raise the banner high for mental health,
deserve much appreciation and thanks. There were an estimated 100
people coming throughout the day.
Thanks to Gordon Bopp
for recognizing the fine work of legislators who champion our cause.
This kind of positive reinforcement is a great way to develop long
term support. Other affiliate leaders like Jim Bloss and Erica Horn
provided additional information and support to bring it all
together. NAMI Thurston County were once again the hosts and we
appreciate their help.
All in all, people did a
great job of raising the need for emergency clubhouse funding.
Likewise, it was an excellent time to get words of gratitude to all
the Senators for the unanimous floor vote in favor of the
Transitional Housing Operating and Rental bill (SB959). For the
first time ever it opened this particular housing assistance to
individuals (including but not limited to people with mental
illness) as well as families!
