Family-to-Family Returns!
NAMI's Family to Family
classes are returning in April.
Even as the current
Family-to-Family classes continue in Richland during March, this
highly successful course will once again be available to
participants starting in the first week of April. This is an
excellent opportunity for those who just missed out in January to
now enroll for Family-to-Family this spring.
Family to Family is a
free twelve week course for family and friends of individuals with
brain disorders called mental illness. Topics covered in this
educational program are:

Family responses to the
trauma of mental illness.

Schizophrenia, major
depression and mania; Diagnosis and dealing with critical periods.

Depression and Bipolar
subtypes; Panic Disorder; Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD);
Borderline Personality Disorder; co-occurring brain and addictive
disorders.

The biology of the
brain: emerging scientific discoveries.

Problem solving
workshop.
-
Medication review.
-
Understanding the inner
experience of having a mental illness.

Communication skills
workshop.
-
Self- care; relative
group testimony.

Rehabilitation, services
available.
-
Advocacy: fighting
stigma.

Celebration and
certification ceremony.
There is no cost to
participate in Family-to-Family. Educational materials are free.
