NAMI and
Mental Illness Spotlighted on Public-Cable Airwaves
Mental Health issues and
NAMI itself will be featured on PBS and MTV the week of May 19,
2008. The public broadcasting and cable programming will extend over
two nights (May 21-22) and include:
Depression: Out of the Shadows on PBS
Premiere of the
documentary Depression: Out of the Shadows, followed by a
panel discussion with NAMI medical director Ken Duckworth, MD,
moderated by broadcast journalist Jane Pauley. The program is part
of PBS' Take One Step public health campaign in which NAMI is the
national outreach partner.

True Life: I Have Schizophrenia on MTV
True Life: I Have
Schizophrenia is an episode of the award-winning MTV documentary
series that explores issues affecting young people. Amber Main, 19,
of NAMI Virginia (Hampton-Newport News) will be featured along with
two other young people living with schizophrenia. Main was diagnosed
last year and is active in NAMI's 'In Our Own Voice Program.' NAMI
medical director, Ken Duckworth, MD, will answer questions on the
show's blog following the telecast.
